Siasia: Musa’s pace and energy made the difference for Nigeria
Former Nigerian coach Samson Siasia has hailed the Super Eagles’ 2-0
win over Iceland on Friday night in their second 2018 FIFA World Cup
match.
The West Africans defeated the Europeans in Group D at the Volgograd
Arena thanks to a brace from Ahmed Musa, who was on fire.
Speaking after the match, Siasia has hailed Musa for his brilliant
second half display which earned Nigeria a 2-0 win over Iceland in a
2018 World Cup group game at the Volgograd Arena on Friday.
The Leicester City winger became the first Nigerian player to score in
consecutive World Cups and the first to score two times in two
different World Cup matches following his brace in the encounter.
Although Siasia reckons that the Super Eagles started slowly, he
claims they turned the corner after Musa’s opener.
“It was an impressive performance from the Super Eagles. They did well
after the slow start,” said the legend on SuperSport TV.
“Musa pace and energy brought more life to the team and they were more
quicker which was the difference.
“The team was lucky Sigurdsson missed his penalty because if he scored
the pressure would have been more on the team.”
Nigeria will play their final group game against Argentina, who are
yet to win in two matches, a draw to Iceland and loss to Croatia.
