Nigeria’s Super Eagles were forced to settle for a 2–2 draw against Poland in an entertaining international friendly on Wednesday, with the hosts scoring a dramatic late equaliser to deny the visitors victory.
The Super Eagles took the lead in the 23rd minute through Terem Moffi, who finished off a well-crafted attacking move to hand Nigeria the advantage and put the visitors in control heading into the break.
However, Poland responded almost immediately after halftime as Potulski found the back of the net in the 46th minute to restore parity and swing momentum in favour of the home side.
Nigeria regained their edge in the second half and looked on course for victory when Paul Onuachu calmly converted from the penalty spot in the 77th minute to make it 2–1.
With the Super Eagles appearing set to secure the win, Poland struck deep into stoppage time as Wiśniewski netted in the 95th minute to rescue a draw for the hosts.
The pulsating encounter saw both sides create opportunities and display attacking intent throughout, ending in a result that leaves each team with encouraging signs ahead of future international assignments.
Despite conceding late, Nigeria will take positives from their performance, while Poland showed resilience to battle back twice and earn a share of the spoils.
