TERRORISTS ELIMINATE 2 SOLDIERS, INJURE 3 IN SOKOTO AMBUSH

Two soldiers were reportedly killed and three others got hurt when troops faced a terrorist attack while dealing with a security issue in the Isa LGA of Sokoto state.
A magazine that focuses on counter–insurgency in the Lake Chad area mentioned the event happened around 10 p.m.
on Tuesday, June 30.At that time, soldiers from the Nigerian Army’s 8th division, who were stationed at a forward operating base called Tidibale, were sent to handle a report about a terrorist attack in Tagirke village.
Citing security sources, the publication said the troops engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, forcing them to retreat from the village.
It added that while withdrawing from the area, the soldiers ran into a well-planned ambush by the fleeing terrorists.
According to Makama, one of the military gun trucks struck an improvised explosive device (IED), resulting in casualties among the troops.
Makama said two soldiers were killed in action, while three sustained injuries. The report mentioned that the bodies of the killed soldiers were taken to the mortuary at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) in Sokoto.The injured were sent to the 8 Division Medical Services and Hospital for care.
Makama said the damaged gun truck was later found and brought back to the forward operating base in Tidibale.
Troops continued their search for the attackers, tried to find lost weapons, and kept up their attacks in the area.
