President Bola Tinubu performed the lesser hajj, known as Umrah, early Friday in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, offering prayers of gratitude to Almighty Allah and seeking divine guidance and protection for Nigeria.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Tinubu circumambulated the Holy Ka’abah at the Grand Mosque, Masjid al-Haram, during the spiritual exercise, praying for the country and its people.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the exercise, the President described the pilgrimage as significant, saying it reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria, its people and the will of Almighty Allah.
“I believe this Umrah is very significant for the love of our people, commitment to the job and our country, Nigeria.
“Commitment to the will of Allah that His words must prevail, and that there’s no other God but Him and He’s the only one that makes a human being what he can be and what he would be in life,” he said.
Tinubu prayed for sustainable peace, national unity, harmony and stability, asking Allah to guide the country’s leaders with wisdom and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among Nigerians.
He also sought divine intervention to bring lasting relief from insecurity and other challenges facing the country.
“I am grateful to Allah for being able to perform this Umrah. We have just prayed for our nation, for everyone to live in peace and harmony, happiness and faith in God Almighty,” the President said.
Tinubu expressed hope that Nigeria would continue to record progress in economic prosperity, social development and security.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a peaceful, united and prosperous nation where every Nigerian, regardless of faith or background, could live in safety, dignity and harmony.
