APC chieftain Farouk Aliyu has dismissed calls for President Bola Tinubu’s resignation, insisting that Nigerians should be allowed to determine his political future through the ballot box in 2027.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, Aliyu described the opposition’s demand for Tinubu to step down as a normal part of democratic politics.

According to him, opposition parties are simply carrying out their role by criticizing the government and calling for the president’s resignation.

“The President does not have to resign. Nigerians should decide at the polls. That is the proper democratic process,” he said.

Aliyu noted that members of the APC made similar demands of previous administrations when they were in opposition, adding that such calls are not unusual in a democracy.

While acknowledging the country’s economic and security challenges, he maintained that the government is working to address them and improve conditions for Nigerians.

He stressed that the ultimate judgment on Tinubu’s performance should come from voters during the next general election rather than through calls for his resignation.
