President Bola Tinubu has said his administration is committed to confronting and resolving inherited challenges rather than abandoning them.
Speaking on Thursday during the inauguration of the newly completed Airport Expressway–Kuje Road to mark his third anniversary in office, Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, described the project as evidence of his government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises.
According to him, the road project reflects the administration’s determination to complete abandoned infrastructure projects and improve the lives of Nigerians.
“Today, we are not just commissioning a road; we are fulfilling a promise. Three years ago, we pledged to end the era of abandoned projects, and this road stands as proof that we are keeping that promise,” he said.
Tinubu stressed that his government does not shy away from inherited difficulties but is focused on addressing them head-on.
“We do not inherit problems to neglect them; we inherit challenges to solve them,” he stated.
He recalled that the road project, awarded in 2022, had suffered significant delays and become a source of frustration for residents and businesses due to traffic congestion, dust during the dry season, and muddy conditions during the rains.
The President also explained that his decision to appoint Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory was driven by the need for effective project delivery.
“When I appointed Wike as FCT Minister, it was because he has a track record of delivering results. Despite the obstacles, his administration brought the political will needed to move the project forward while ensuring due process and compensation where necessary,” Tinubu added.
