TROOPS FOIL BANDITS’ ATTACK, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE IN PLATEAU

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE in Plateau State have recorded another operational success after foiling an ambush by suspected bandits during a follow-up operation in Langtang North Local Government Area of the state.
The operation followed the arrest and interrogation of a suspected bandit, who provided intelligence on the location of a concealed weapon.
Acting on the information, troops escorted the suspect to Nwur Village to recover the hidden weapon. However, as they approached the suspected hideout, members of the criminal syndicate opened fire on the troops.
The troops responded with superior firepower, neutralising one of the attackers and the arrested suspect, who was caught in the ensuing exchange of fire.
Following the encounter, the troops conducted an exploitation of the area and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine and two rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition abandoned by the fleeing criminals.
The troops have continued exploitation operations in the area as they intensify efforts to track down and neutralise other members of the bandit syndicate.
Operation ENDURING PEACE reaffirmed its commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of action and ensuring the safety and security of law-abiding residents in Plateau State.
