A 50-year-old man identified as Jude Thaddeus, popularly known as Musa, has allegedly been murdered, with his body dumped in a dry well and set ablaze at his residence in Aku Village, Base 5, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The victim was reportedly killed inside his residence before his body was dumped in the well and set on fire.

The Nasarawa State Police Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by its Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, adding that two suspects had been arrested in connection with the murder, while a third suspect remained at large.

According to the statement, the incident was reported on November 3, 2026, by a 46-year-old woman, Jennifer Alain, from Mpape, Abuja, at the Aso Pada Police Division.

During interrogation, one of the suspects, 23-year-old Yusuf Musa, allegedly confessed to participating in the murder and revealed that the victim’s body had been dumped in a dry well within his residence.

The police said preliminary investigations suggested that the victim was killed inside his home before his body was moved to the well and set ablaze.

The suspects allegedly attempted to conceal the crime by covering the well with blocks to prevent the discovery of the body.

Acting on information provided by the suspect, detectives, alongside environmental services personnel, visited the scene and recovered the decomposed remains from the well.

The remains were subsequently evacuated to the Medical Centre, Mararaba, where a medical doctor examined and certified the victim dead.

The police identified the arrested suspects as Yusuf Musa, 23, and Victor Zamani, 32.

The statement further revealed that Yusuf Musa allegedly confessed to selling some of the deceased’s heavy metals and industrial engines for N3.4m.

It added that investigations had established the involvement of a third suspect, who was still at large.

The command said efforts had been intensified to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect, assuring that all those connected with the crime would face justice.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohamed, subsequently directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia, for a thorough investigation and prosecution.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that everyone involved in the murder was brought to justice.
