President Bola Tinubu has arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, an Islamic pilgrimage to the Holy City of Makkah.
The President landed at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on Thursday night, where he was received by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Yakubu Gambo, and the kingdom’s Head of Royal Protocol, Ahmad bin Thafir.
Tinubu departed Abuja for Makkah on Thursday afternoon for the spiritual exercise.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, the visit offers an opportunity for spiritual reflection, devotion, and prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability, and continued progress.
The statement added that the President would perform the religious rites associated with Umrah and seek Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its people.
Tinubu is expected to return to the country next week.
