Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr has reportedly been handed a four-match suspension, ruling him out of the highly anticipated El Clásico against Barcelona on October 25.

The Brazilian international is expected to miss La Liga fixtures against Sevilla, Barcelona, Racing Santander and Valencia following his dismissal during Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory over Villarreal on Saturday.

Football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano disclosed the suspension in a post on X on Wednesday.

“Vinicius Jr has been suspended for 4 La Liga games — out for El Clásico,” Romano wrote.

He listed Sevilla, Barcelona, Racing Club and Valencia among the teams Real Madrid would face during the forward’s absence.

According to reports, the disciplinary committee imposed a two-match ban for violent conduct after Vinicius allegedly pulled the hair of Villarreal defender Nathan Saliba. A further two-match suspension was reportedly imposed over his protests following the red card.

The incident occurred after Vinicius appeared to have scored a second goal for Real Madrid, only for the effort to be ruled out following a video assistant referee review that reportedly identified the hair-pulling incident.

The forward was subsequently sent off, with the referee’s report also detailing his reaction to the dismissal.

Vinicius later apologised to his teammates and the club’s supporters over the incident.

The reported suspension would be a significant setback for Real Madrid ahead of their meeting with arch-rivals Barcelona, who are scheduled to host the Spanish giants in the latest edition of El Clásico.
