Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has reportedly reached a verbal agreement to become the next head coach of the France national team, according to the media.

Zidane has been out of management since his second spell at Real Madrid ended in 2021.

Since then, the 53-year-old has been linked with several high-profile clubs, including Juventus, Manchester United, and a potential return to the Santiago Bernabéu.

However, Zidane turned down all offers, holding out for what he considers his dream role.

He is now expected to take charge of Les Bleus following the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

The French national team is currently managed by Didier Deschamps, whose contract will expire at the conclusion of the tournament.
