South African Gay Singer Koyo Bala Dies Of Anal Cancer

Famous South African music star Koyo Bala on Tuesday, March 8, died at Groote Schuur hospital, in Cape Town, after battling with cancer for a long time. According to Ghana Vibe, the 36-year old music artist and socialite was reported to have been diagnosed of ‘anal cancer’ in 2012 and has undergone different stages of chemotherapy and has also staged several awareness in order to fight against cancer, in his immediate environment. Koyo Bala who has also been diagnosed of being infected with HIV before his death disclosed to Ghana vibe that: “I went for chemotherapy for six weeks and a radiation programme two years ago, but the cancer came back severely.”
 Speaking with a longtime family friend and Koyo’s housemate, Ephraim Molingoana disclosed that his friend has always kept a positive outlook and remained strong throughout his illness. Adding that: “We are devastated and in a state of disbelief. The flamboyant 37-year-old was a member of ‘bubblegum pop’ group 3 Sum along with Jeff Moyo and Amstel Maboa. Bala had hinted at a comeback to the music scene when he posted a picture in studio captioned “let’s go back to the beat’.”
His last tweet about his illness was on February and it reads:
“I pray 2 God everyday 2 help me pass this cancer #itshard #pains #wontgiveup #canwinthisbattle #cantsleepofpains”.
