BLUEmedia was abuzz Monday night during the CFDA Awards red carpet in New York City about a special surprise, said to be coming at 9:20 p.m. Of course, in fashion industry speak, that actually meant closer to midnight, when Diane Von Furstenberg presented Beyoncé with the 2016 Fashion Icon award.
Joined by husband Jay-Z and daughter Blue Ivy, Mrs. Carter-Knowles completely dressed the part to accept the award, wearing a hat straight off of her Formation World Tour
In her touching speech, Beyoncé thanked her mother Tina Knowles for the many costumes and gowns she made over the years, talked about how Destiny’s Child struggled getting designers to dress them before they were superstars, and sent a strong message about positive body image to the designers in the room.
