#ENDSARSMEMORIAL – FALZ SPEAKS ON REASON FOR PROTEST
By Adeniyi Onaara
On Thursday, Popular Nigerian musician Folarin Falana, nicknamed Falz, joined many protesters to the Lekki Tollgate in memory of the shooting that occurred at the tollgate on October 20, 2020, purportedly resulting in the loss of lives.
The presence of comedian Adebowale Adebayo, aka Mr Macroni, who also co-led the march, was also noted during the second memorial of the #EndSARS protest.
According to a video released by Channels TV, Falz stated during the march that they were at the toll gate because of individuals he claimed were killed there two years ago during the #EndSARS demonstration, adding that the government denied the supposed murders.
“Government dey try deny say e happen, but we will never let that happen,” Falz said in pidgin English.
“We’re not here to make trouble; we’re here to memorialize our people who were killed on October 20, 2020, and that’s why we’re here.” We don’t want anyone making this movement say anything political.
These coffins are incredibly symbolic, therefore we make them carry them to the tollgate. “Na here wey dem slaughter our folks, so we go toss this coffin for them, na they get am,” he added as he led the protests in pidgin English.
