2023 ACCORD PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE IMUMOLEN BACKS APC’S OYEBAMIJI IN OSUN

Christopher Imumolen, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Accord Party, has declared his support for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Imumolen made the declaration on Thursday at the grand finale of the APC governorship campaign rally in Osogbo, the state capital.
Speaking at the event, Imumolen, who described himself as the national chairman of a faction of Accord, announced that he and members of his working committee had withdrawn their support for the incumbent governor and Accord candidate, Ademola Adeleke.
He urged Accord members across the state to vote for Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, during Saturday’s election.
“As the national chairman of the Accord Party, with my working committee, who are all here, we have stepped down our support for Ademola Adeleke, and today we declare our support for AMBO. Come on Saturday, all Accord members in Osun State should go to the polling units and vote for AMBO,” he said.
However, the development comes amid a leadership dispute within Accord, with the party’s leadership recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission having endorsed Adeleke for re-election.
The Accord leadership headed by Maxwell Mgbudem has maintained its support for Adeleke, creating a split within the party over the Osun governorship election.
Meanwhile, Imumolen recently withdrew from the 2027 presidential race and declared his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
He had cited the need to prioritise national unity, stability and continued development over personal political ambition, adding that his decision was based on his assessment of Tinubu’s leadership and reform agenda.
The Osun State governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
