Nnolim Nnaji, chairman of the House Committee on Aviation, has demanded immediate action in response to the ongoing labor dispute involving employees of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO).

Employees of the handling company ceased operations this morning due to an alleged failure by management to pay salaries.

As a result of the development, domestic and international flights were disrupted across the country.

In response to the development, Nnaji requested that the ground handling firm’s management immediately contact the union’s leadership in order to avoid further disruptions to aircraft operations across the country.

He also urged the union to calm down and consider the anguish that the strike was causing.

He also urged the union to calm down and consider the suffering that the move would cause innocent Nigerians both at home and abroad.

Hon. Nnaji reminded the workers that failing to perform their duties now, as the election approaches, could have disastrous consequences for campaigns and the movement of sensitive materials by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He also assured the workers that his Committee would speak with management to determine how their complaints could be handled quickly.

Heavy domestic and international flight delays were alleged to have already begun as a result of the workers’ strike, which began early on Monday over welfare concerns.
