The late rapper AKA’s family and record company have confirmed that his anticipated album “Mass Country,” which was slated for release in February 2023, will go on sale as scheduled.

The late rapper’s family said on AKA’s social media accounts that they plan to proceed with the impending ‘Mass Country’ album release in order to honor his memory.

“The family is still honoring their son’s life. They have decided to proceed with the planned 24th February 2023 release of the album “Mass Country” in order to honor his memory “Reads the press release.

The press statement quoted Nivo, the album’s co-executive producer, as saying:  “The team was extremely blessed to work so closely on the project with Kiernan. We spent a lot of time mapping out this roll-out and creating all the content we have under his direction.

Kiernan put in a ton of effort on this project. He gave it his all, and we were fortunate that he had the chance to plan out the full roll-out and approve all the components, so that what will be revealed will be in line with his direction and his vision.

“Our hearts are torn,” said Sean Watson, managing director of Sony Music Entertainment Africa. In addition to losing an icon, the Sony Music Family has also lost a beloved friend.

On February 10, 2023, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, also known as AKA and Supamega, was fatally shot in Florida Durban, South Africa. In a planned attack, the rapper was shot in the head, dying as a result.

Tributes have been pouring all across Africa in honour of the late rapper whose career spanned over a decade and greatly impacted the South African Hip Hop scene. His upcoming album ‘Mass Country’ is scheduled for release on February 24th, 2023 and it will continue his legacy.
