David Akinremi, the commander of the Amotekun Corps in Ogun State, has passed away.
Akinremi, a retired police commissioner, was said to have passed away on Monday night.
Akinremi reportedly suffered from an unidentified illness for a long period before passing away on Monday.
In 2021, Governor Dapo Abiodun named Akinremi as the founding Commander of the newly formed Amotekun Corps.
Under his direction, the Amotekun Corps collaborated with other security personnel in an effort to purge the State of crimes.
The Commander of the So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo, confirmed Akinremi’s death and called it a nasty shock.
