JUST IN: NIGER’S MILITARY JUNTA FORMS NEW GOVERNMENT

According to a declaration read out on national television on Thursday, the Nigerien military chiefs who overthrew the country’s elected government in a coup in July have established a new administration.

The 21-member government will be led by newly appointed Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, while the defense and interior ministries will be run by generals from the new military ruling council.
