BREAKING: TINUBU SECURES DEAL WITH UNITED ARAB EMIRATES; VISA BAN ON NIGERIAN TRAVELERS LIFTED IMMEDIATELY
A historic agreement was reached between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates on Monday in Abu Dhabi. As a result, Nigerian travellers no longer need a visa to enter the United Arab Emirates.
The historic agreement also requires both Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airlines to begin their flight schedules into and out of Nigeria right now, without additional delay.
This rapid restoration of flying activity via these two airlines and between the two countries does not entail any immediate payment by the Nigerian government, as agreed upon by the two Heads of State.
An agreed framework has been established, involving several billions of new investments by the investment arms of the Government of the United Arab Emirates into the Nigerian economy across many sectors, including defence, agriculture, and others, in recognition of President Tinubu’s economic development diplomacy drive and proposals presented today by President Tinubu to his counterpart.
In addition, President Tinubu is happy to report that a collaborative, new foreign exchange liquidity initiative between the two governments, which will be detailed in the coming weeks, was successfully negotiated.
In closing, the President expresses his gratitude to Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates, for his unwavering friendship and his commitment to working with him to fully normalise and raise the bar for relations between the two significant nations.
