POLICE APPREHEND VEHICLE THEFT SYNDICATE, RECOVER STOLEN CAR IN LAGOS

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two members of a well-known vehicle theft syndicate during a special operation in the Trade Fair area of Lagos.
The suspects, identified as Kosoko Rafiu and Nunayo Sunayo, were captured on Thursday, August 8, after a high-speed pursuit that concluded with their arrest in Abule Ado.
The operation began at approximately 12:00 pm when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Trade Fair Division, who was overseeing a protest, received a tip about a red Toyota Corona driving suspiciously fast toward his patrol team.
Reacting quickly, the DPO instructed his team to carry out a stop-and-search operation.
However, the suspects attempted to escape and sped away from the scene.
A chase followed, and the police managed to intercept the vehicle at Abule Ado.
The suspects were apprehended, and preliminary investigations revealed that they are from the Republic of Benin and are involved in car theft.
Along with the stolen Toyota Corona, the police recovered a Toyota Corolla with a registration number (JJJ 741 EJ) and various charms believed to be used in their criminal activities.

The suspects are currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway to uncover more details about the syndicate’s operations.
