Employers of Corps members serving under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been called upon to support the scheme by either picking up Corps members posted to their organisations from the orientation camp or reimbursing their transportation expenses.
This appeal was made by the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier-General Olakunle Nafiu, during the 2025 NYSC/Corps Employers’ Workshop held in Bauchi on Thursday.
The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Olakunle Nafiu, has emphasized the need for employers to provide decent accommodation or offer monetary support in lieu of it, noting that such gestures would significantly motivate Corps members to deliver effective and quality service.
Speaking through Mrs. Agatha Banki, Director of the North-East Area Office 1 in Bauchi, the DG described the NYSC/Corps Employers’ Workshop as a crucial annual event. He noted that it serves as a strategic platform for interaction between NYSC officials and Corps employers, fostering the exchange of ideas to improve the Scheme’s implementation.
“The workshop helps to clarify grey areas and promotes stronger collaboration between our organisations,” he said. “It consistently generates recommendations that are integrated into the Scheme’s operations. I am confident that the 2025 edition will be no exception.”
