KOGI MONARCH REGAINS FREEDOM AFTER ABDUCTION

The District Head of Bagaji Odo in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, David Akpa, has regained freedom days after being abducted by gunmen.

His release was confirmed in a statement on Saturday by Gift Idoga, Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Omala LGA, Edibo Mark.

Akpa was kidnapped on Monday, September 1, 2025, and taken into the bush by his abductors.

According to the statement, the monarch was rescued in the early hours of Thursday through the combined efforts of security agencies, hunters, and vigilante groups, coordinated by the council chairman.

“The Executive Chairman of Omala LGA swung into action, detailing a joint task force made up of hunters, vigilantes, police, and the Nigerian Army. The chairman also personally joined the search on two occasions,” the statement noted.

It added that the monarch is currently receiving medical treatment at the council chairman’s residence.
