At least seven persons were hospitalised on Monday after a head-on collision involving two trucks at Arinkinkin in Ogbomoso South Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The crash, which occurred along the Ogbomoso–Ilorin Federal Road, was reportedly caused by dangerous overtaking by one of the trucks.

An eyewitness, Olajide Babalola, said that the vehicles were carrying eight male passengers. “Seven sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Ebunoluwa Specialist Hospital, Sabo, Ogbomoso, for urgent medical care. Only one person escaped unhurt,” he said.

Another traveller, who witnessed the accident, explained that road users halted their journey until officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived to convey the injured victims to the hospital.

Findings indicated that while some of the victims were responding to treatment, others remained in a coma.

As of the time of filing this report, efforts to reach the Oyo State FRSC Sector Commander, Rosemary Alo, for confirmation were unsuccessful.
