TINUBU SALUTES NATIONAL ICON, ‘SILENT GIVER’ ADEBUTU AT 90
President Bola Tinubu has paid glowing tribute to business magnate and philanthropist Chief Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu on his 90th birthday, describing him as a “national icon, cultural pride, and silent giver” whose life exemplifies hard work, humility, and enduring service to humanity.
In a statement personally signed on Friday, the President celebrated Chief Adebutu as one of Nigeria’s most outstanding entrepreneurs, whose achievements in business, philanthropy, and culture have left indelible footprints across generations.
Commending him for rising from humble beginnings in Iperu-Iremo to national prominence, Tinubu highlighted Adebutu’s integrity, resilience, and benevolent spirit. He described the birthday celebrant as “a dependable friend and loyal brother.”
“Through his admirable personality, business acumen, resilience, and benevolent spirit, Chief Adebutu distinguished himself as one of Nigeria’s most outstanding entrepreneurs. His remarkable contributions to business, philanthropy, culture, and national development are footprints that will endure across generations,” the President stated.
Tinubu also noted Adebutu’s pioneering role in Nigeria’s modern lotto business, saying it created jobs, sustained families, and inspired young Nigerians to pursue enterprise with integrity. He further commended the Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu Foundation’s scholarships for indigent students, youth empowerment initiatives, and community development work.
Beyond business and philanthropy, the President acknowledged Adebutu’s contributions to democratic consolidation, peace-building, and cultural preservation. His traditional titles — including the revered Odole Oodua — were cited as fitting honours for his lifelong service to the Yoruba people and Nigeria at large.
On this special anniversary, Tinubu expressed national gratitude and extended best wishes for many more years of good health and continued contribution to progress.
Chief Adebutu’s 90th birthday is not only a celebration of his personal milestone but also a reflection of his sustained impact across commercial, philanthropic, and cultural spheres in Nigeria.
