NDLEA NABS WOMAN CARRYING LIVE AMMUNITION IN ZAMFARA
Tsafe, Zamfara State — Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a woman found carrying live ammunition along the Tsafe‑Gusau highway in Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State. The ammunition is suspected to have been intended for bandits operating in the region.
The interception occurred on Wednesday, November 6, 2025, during a routine stop‑and‑search operation. The woman, believed to be from Birnin Magaji Local Government Area, was found concealing the live ammunition in her luggage.
Garba Shehu, Chairman of Tsafe LGA, commended the NDLEA operatives for their vigilance, describing the arrest as a significant step in curbing the flow of arms and logistical supplies to criminal elements. He assured continued local government support for security operations in the area.
The suspect has been taken into custody for further investigation, while authorities work to trace the source of the ammunition and identify the intended recipients. Community sources said the arrest disrupted a known supply route used to transport arms through the Birnin Magaji‑Tsafe‑Dansadau forest corridor.
Security analysts note that interdictions like this are crucial in dismantling supply chains that sustain bandit and insurgent activities in Zamfara and other parts of north‑west Nigeria.
