Suspected bandits attacked Ehwakya in Ugom community, Maro Ward, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the death of one person and the abduction of several others.
The chairman of Ugom community, Ishaya Onnusim, stated, “At the time of issuing this statement, one youth, Saminu Linus Emmanuel, has been confirmed dead from a gunshot. Many of our people were kidnapped, with the full number still unknown; the victims include the young, the elderly, and predominantly vulnerable women, who remain in the hands of the attackers.”
He added that the bandits also looted all valuable items in the community before fleeing.

Onnusim reported that the kidnappings occurred in Ehwakya (Ungwar Sarki of Ugom community) and at a nearby location along the railway line after Gwando, on the main road toward the Kufana axis. He said the attackers shouted “Allahu Akbar” and openly boasted that Nigerian security agencies would be powerless to stop them.
He added that the bandits warned the community that peace would only be possible if residents complied with their demands to vacate their land; otherwise, they would continue terrorising the area until the people were forced to submit.
Onnusim urged the government to take immediate action across the entire Ugom community to prevent further loss of life, noting that three sections of the area have already been abandoned due to attacks, leaving residents displaced.
Attempts to reach Mansir Hussaini, spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, for comment on the incident were unsuccessful.
