YOBE VARSITY ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF NEW VC, REGISTRAR

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has given approval for the appointment of Professor Mohammed Bashir Tahir as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Yobe State University, Damaturu.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, Alhaji Ahmed Mustapha Goniri. According to the statement, the approval followed a recommendation by the Governing Council at its extraordinary meeting held on 15 January 2026.

Goniri noted that Professor Tahir is a Professor of General Surgery and a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Medical Director of the Ultra-Modern Police Hospital in Damaturu.

In a related development, the Governing Council also approved the appointment of Mallam Isa Audu Dallari as the substantive Registrar of Yobe State University, Damaturu, during the same extraordinary meeting on 15 January 2026.

The appointment was made based on the recommendation of the Selection Committee and in line with the provisions of the Yobe State University Law, 2006 (as amended).

Mallam Dallari is currently serving as a Director of Administration at Yobe State University, Damaturu.
