The Adamawa State Police Command has intensified security ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s visit on Monday to commission major projects executed by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
In a press statement on Saturday, the command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the security arrangements are designed “to ensure that there is no breach of security during and after the president’s visit to Adamawa State.”
“The Adamawa State Police Command has indeed been placed on high alert ahead of the president’s visit and has deployed its manpower and operational assets to all nooks and crannies of the state,” the statement said.
Nguroje added that the Commissioner of Police, Dankwambo Morris, “has convened a strategic meeting with security commanders and senior officers of the command to review and strengthen existing security measures in the state.”
The CP has also ordered the deployment of operational assets, including the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Surveillance Squad, and Crowd and Traffic Control Unit. “The teams are expected to carry out covert surveillance operations in the state,” the statement noted.
“In an effort to sustain public order, public safety, and peace in the state before, during, and after the visit, personnel have been deployed to identify flashpoints in Yola South and Yola North Local Government Areas,” it added.
Nguroje emphasized that the Adamawa Police Command is coordinating with other security agencies to ensure a hitch-free visit. Measures include “enhanced surveillance, covert surveillance, and confidence-building patrols; traffic management: restriction of vehicular movement in certain areas until after the commissioning and flag-off; public safety: anti-bomb squads have been deployed to sweep event venues and roads leading to the venues.”
The command urged residents to “cooperate with security agents deployed and report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods to the nearest police station.”
