OGUN EAST APC ENDORSES ABIODUN FOR APC SENATE SEAT

Leaders and important people from the All Progressives Congress in the Ogun East Senatorial District came together on Monday to officially support Governor Dapo Abiodun as their chosen candidate for the 2027 senatorial election.
This decision was made during a meeting that had a lot of people attending, held at the Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu-Ode.
The event gathered a wide group of party leaders and community members from all parts of the district.
According to a statement released by Lekan Adeniran, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abiodun, the meeting included members of the Governor’s advisory team, both former and current local government leaders, past and present lawmakers at the state and national levels, council members from every ward in the district, as well as leaders from women’s and youth groups.
The statement said that those who were present at the meeting included councilors from the entire senatorial district, ward chairmen and their teams, local government chairmen and their teams, current members of the National Assembly and the State House of Assembly, former members of both the State and National Assembly, and members of the Elders Advisory Council.
Speaking during the meeting, former Ogun East senator, Lekan Mustapha, said the decision was driven by a shared conviction that Governor Abiodun possesses the capacity to represent the district effectively in the Senate.
Mustapha said that “Party leaders would formally communicate the endorsement to the governor, including a commitment to purchase his nomination forms for the 2027 election.
“We will put a body together to deliver this message to our Governor that he has been adopted as the consensus candidate.”
He described Abiodun as a leader of strong character and sound intellect, and should therefore be given all the support to be in the Senate in 2027.
In his remarks, the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, noted that the governor’s track record in governance and party cohesion make him deserving of the Senate seat.
Talabi reportedly said that “This endorsement is historic and unanimous. It reflects the collective belief that Prince Dapo Abiodun is the right person for the position”.
Also speaking, House of Representatives member, Femi Ogunbanwo, representing Odogbolu, Ijebu-Ode, and Ijebu North East Federal Constituency, said the governor’s administration has fostered peace and development across the state, expressing confidence that he would attract more dividends of democracy to Ogun East at the national level.
Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Afolabi Odulate, commended the governor’s performance and reiterated the district’s collective appeal for him to accept the senatorial bid.
The event reportedly drew participation from all 103 councillors across the nine local governments in Ogun East, alongside youth leaders and key grassroots mobilisers.
Other top political leaders at the meeting included Sen Gbenga Kaka, Ogun East APC Chairman Adedoyin Adeleke, and respected party elders such as Kola Ogunjobi, Bayo Dayo, Durojaye, Pegba Otemolu, James Dina, and Osibote Amoran.
Also present were Femi Nuberu, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Adesola Elegbeji, Joseph Adegbesan, and Femi Ogunbanwo — members of the House of Representatives.
