The Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed that three people lost their lives while one person sustained injuries in a crash involving a Lexus Jeep and a Boxer motorcycle along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday.
The Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abeokuta by the command’s spokesperson, Odunsi Afolabi.
Afolabi stated that the accident, which involved eight male adults, occurred around 1:04 p.m. at the Oniworo area of the expressway.
He added that the crash involved a blue Lexus Jeep with registration number GGE 18 JV and a black Boxer motorcycle without a registration number.
Afolabi said that three people lost their lives in the crash, while one other sustained various injuries.
“The corpses of the victims have been taken to FOS morgue, Opara, while the survivors were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for treatment,” he said.
Afolabi attributed the cause of the crash to speeding and a burst tyre.
He said that obstructions had been cleared by the FRSC Ogunmakin Unit in order to restore traffic flow, and the vehicles were moved to the MTD Alapako Police station for further investigation.
Afolabi quoted the sector commander as sending his condolences to the families of deceased victims and praying that God would grant them the fortitude to bear their losses.
He admonished all motorists to strictly adhere to speed limits and ensure their tyres are in good condition before embarking on any journey.
