The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has promised to reduce the cost of living and strengthen security across Nigeria, accusing President Bola Tinubu’s administration of making life increasingly expensive for citizens.

Atiku made the pledge in a post on his official X account on Wednesday, where he also urged registered voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former vice-president said Nigerians across different age groups and economic backgrounds were struggling with rising living costs and worsening insecurity.

“Parents go to bed worried about what they will feed their children tomorrow. Pensioners must choose between buying medicine and buying food. Young people work hard, yet transport, rent and basic needs consume what they earn,” Atiku said.

He added that many families across the country were living in fear of kidnapping, attacks and uncertainty over the safety of their loved ones.

Atiku warned that Nigerians should not be forced to endure hunger and insecurity simultaneously, urging citizens to prevent the current challenges from becoming a burden for future generations.

He also called on eligible voters to collect and safeguard their PVCs, describing the cards as essential tools for exercising their democratic rights and pursuing change through the ballot box.

“If you are a registered voter, please go and collect your PVC. Hold on to it. It is your voice, your choice and your peaceful power to demand change,” he said.

The ADC chieftain further criticised Tinubu’s administration over the rising cost of living, pledging to make essential goods and services more affordable if elected president.

“Bola made life expensive. I will work to make life affordable again and restore the security every Nigerian deserves,” he said.

Atiku urged Nigerians across generations to unite behind his vision of a country where families could live in dignity, safety and hope.

“Let us stand together, across generations, and vote for a Nigeria where every family can live with dignity, safety and hope,” he added.
