2027 ELECTION: ONDO APC ELDERS MOBILISE SUPPORT FOR TINUBU

The All Progressives Congress elders in Ondo State have urged members of the party and its various groups to put aside their differences and unite ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
The Chairman of the APC Elders Forum, Demola Ijabiyi, made the call on Wednesday during a meeting of the group in Akure, the state capital.
Ijabiyi said the elders considered it their responsibility to promote peace, unity and political stability within the party while offering guidance whenever necessary.
He expressed concern over what he described as a growing tendency among party members to view political developments in the state through the lens of winners and losers, rather than focusing on the collective interest of the party.
According to him, the APC’s political energy should be channelled towards mobilisation, reconciliation and expanding Tinubu’s support base ahead of the 2027 election.
He stressed that all tendencies within the party capable of contributing votes should be accommodated, while genuine supporters of the President and political leaders with mobilisation capacity should be given roles in the campaign.
Ijabiyi said the elders were particularly concerned about reactions that followed the recent announcement of the campaign structure, noting that disagreements within the party should not be allowed to undermine its broader political objectives.
He urged party members to refrain from treating every political development as a contest over who had gained or lost influence.
“There is no victory yet to celebrate. The campaign has not been fought. The election has not been held. The votes have not been counted,” he said.
The APC elder maintained that the immediate priority should be securing victory for Tinubu, while other political contests and ambitions could be addressed at the appropriate time.
“The President’s campaign must be bigger than the political differences among leaders and individuals in Ondo State. There will be another time for Ondo politics. There will be another time for governorship ambitions. There will be another time for individuals to test their popularity.
“This particular assignment is about President Bola Tinubu, and we must treat it as such,” Ijabiyi stated.
He further called on APC members to work collectively towards ensuring that the party secures an overwhelming victory for Tinubu in Ondo State in the 2027 presidential election.
