The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed claims suggesting it is pursuing an alliance with any other political party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking on Thursday at the party’s state secretariat in Umuahia, the Abia PDP Chairman, Abraham Amah, said the party remains united, strong and fully prepared to contest the 2027 elections independently.

Amah stressed that anyone making statements in support of a political alliance was not speaking on behalf of the PDP. He added that the party had successfully uploaded the names of its candidates for various elective positions and had no intention of seeking support from or offering its platform to any other political party.

“As far as we are concerned, we do not have any agreement with any other political party. I am privileged to know what is happening in the party, both in the state and at the national level, and there is no such agreement with anybody,” he said.

The state chairman also dismissed reports of a faction within the Abia PDP, insisting the party remains united. According to him, the names of all the party’s candidates have already been successfully uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.

He added that the party has begun efforts to reconcile aspirants who were dissatisfied with the outcome of its primary elections.

Meanwhile, the PDP governorship candidate in Abia State, Kelechi Anosike, pledged to implement a ₦90,000 minimum wage for civil servants if elected governor. He also criticised the current salary structure of the state government, alleging that it has failed to pay the ₦70,000 minimum wage uniformly across all workers.
