The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its online portal for the recruitment of ad hoc staff for the 2027 general elections.

Ad hoc staff are temporary personnel recruited, trained and deployed to perform specific election-related duties before being disengaged after the exercise.

INEC said it plans to recruit and deploy about 1.4 million ad hoc personnel across more than 176,000 polling units nationwide for the 2027 elections.

The personnel will perform various roles during the Presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for January 16, 2027, as well as the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections fixed for February 6, 2027.

In a public notice issued on Thursday, the commission announced that its Election Staff Recruitment Portal, INECPRES, would open at 8 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, and close at midnight on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.

INEC said interested applicants could access the recruitment portal through its official website and the web version of INECPRES.

The recruitment covers several categories, including Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers and Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH) personnel.
