EKSU APPOINTS NEW REGISTRAR

The Governing Council of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has approved the appointment of Dr Jadesola Babatola as the institution’s seventh substantive Registrar and Secretary to the Council for a five-year tenure.

Babatola, who was previously a Deputy Registrar at the university, will assume office on October 5, 2026.

The Deputy Registrar and Head of the Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs, EKSU, Mayowa Ogunlola, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday following the Council’s regular meeting held on September 17, 2026.

According to Ogunlola, the university community and other stakeholders have been urged to support the new Registrar as he begins his tenure.

Babatola attended Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti, before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti, now known as EKSU. He later obtained an MSc in Political Science (Public Administration) from the University of Ibadan in 1997 and a PhD in History and International Studies from EKSU in 2019.

Before his appointment, Babatola held several administrative positions in the education sector. He served as a Commissioner at the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board and was Registrar and Secretary to the Council of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, Ondo, from 2017 to 2018.

He subsequently served as Registrar and Secretary to the Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe Island, Bayelsa State, between 2018 and 2021, and held the same position at Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, from 2021 to 2025.

Babatola, a former Global President of the EKSU Alumni Association, is a fellow of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Management, Chartered Institute of Administration, Institute of Management Consultants and Institute of Corporate Administration. He is also a full member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management and a member of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators, among others.

The university described him as an historian, public analyst, university administrator and higher education manager.

Babatola joined the services of EKSU in 2001 as an Administrative Officer One, following a brief stint in the private sector.
