The Action Grassroots Alliance has inaugurated its executive committees across the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas of Lagos State, reaffirming its commitment to mobilising grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu and the Lagos State All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration ceremony, held at Ikeja Club in Lagos, drew members and supporters from across the state, who gathered to declare their backing for the two political figures.

Addressing attendees at the event, the group’s Director-General, Mrs Selewa Adegbenro, described the inauguration as a major milestone in strengthening a grassroots-driven movement centred on service delivery, development and active political engagement.

She said the newly inaugurated executives were expected to provide leadership across their respective communities and mobilise support for the group’s objectives.

“Today marks a significant milestone in the journey of TAG Alliance. Beyond inaugurating executives, we are laying the foundation for a strong grassroots movement committed to service, development and active political engagement,” she said.

Adegbenro stated that the alliance comprises civil servants, entrepreneurs, traders, professionals, youths and community stakeholders united by a shared commitment to the growth and development of Lagos State and Nigeria.

She charged the newly inaugurated executives to carry out their duties with integrity, unity and dedication, emphasising the importance of making meaningful impacts at the ward, community and local government levels.

The group also used the occasion to publicly endorse Tinubu’s second-term bid and express support for Hamzat’s political aspirations in Lagos State.

According to Adegbenro, the alliance believed in the leadership and vision of both men and remained committed to mobilising grassroots support for the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Media Director of the group, Ziggy Ibeh, said the large turnout at the event reflected the enthusiasm of members and their determination to work for the political success of the leaders endorsed by the organisation.

Participants at the event described the gathering as a demonstration of grassroots solidarity, with members pledging to strengthen the alliance’s presence across the 57 councils in Lagos State ahead of the 2027 elections.
