The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has hailed the party’s victory in the Ekiti State governorship election and its strong showing in recent bye-elections across the country, describing the outcomes as a clear endorsement of both the APC and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Yilwatda, the election results reflect Nigerians’ growing confidence in the party’s leadership and its reform-driven governance agenda. He noted that voters are increasingly able to differentiate between the short-term economic difficulties associated with reforms and the long-term gains of responsible governance, economic transformation, infrastructure expansion, and institutional strengthening being pursued by APC governments at the federal and state levels.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said the victories recorded in Ekiti and other parts of the country demonstrate widespread public approval of the APC’s governance philosophy.

“The overwhelming mandate secured by our party in Ekiti State, alongside our impressive performance in the bye-elections, is a strong affirmation of the APC’s commitment to development, accountability, stability, and the welfare of citizens,” he said.

He added that Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election underscores the political value of performance-driven leadership, noting that the governor’s record of inclusive governance, prudent resource management, and visible developmental projects earned him renewed trust from the electorate.

Governor Oyebanji was returned for another term after winning decisively across the state, while the APC also emerged victorious in five of the six bye-elections conducted nationwide.

Yilwatda said the Ekiti outcome reinforces the party’s belief that effective governance remains a major factor in electoral success, even during periods of economic transition.

“The Ekiti election has become a national example of how citizens reward governments that deliver measurable improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, security, and social welfare,” he stated.

He stressed that the result sends a strong message that tangible achievements, rather than political rhetoric, remain the foundation of public trust and electoral legitimacy.

The APC chairman further described Ekiti under Governor Oyebanji as a model of good governance, citing sustained investments in road construction, rural development, healthcare, agriculture, human capital development, workers’ welfare, and business-friendly policies.

According to him, the administration has successfully combined developmental progress with political stability, creating an environment that supports growth and prosperity.

“Ekiti today exemplifies how APC-led governments are translating public trust into concrete development outcomes. The state’s achievements offer practical evidence of our party’s commitment to people-centred governance,” he said.

Yilwatda also linked the election outcome to the broader national reform programme of President Tinubu, arguing that the administration’s policies are gradually laying the groundwork for a more resilient, productive, and globally competitive Nigerian economy.
