WAR BETWEEN ALABA INTERNATIONAL MARKET TRADERS AND AREA BOYS
DAMILOLA LAWRENCE
Reports say chaos has broken out at the Alaba International Market in Lagos, between the social miscreants and traders.
Accounts by eyewitnesses state that the traders are against the area youngsters, also known as Agberos, who constantly demand money from people to come to the market for business transactions.
“They chased those road side market people and people parking on the road yesterday, then the local agbero this morning came and started demanding money from road side people which led to the non-stop fight which has caused many injured.”
Some of the fractious victims who needed medical attention have been transported to the hospital.
According to a twitter post by a user,
@GrimaldoLee1; he said
“Agberos are using the spaces in front of the market as car parks, where they collect money from people,Alaba (Market Traders) Chairman said he doesnt need them to use those places again,that place should be left for customers to park their cars. Agbero said NEVER and they came to fight.”
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, said that the police are working to reestablish order in the neighborhood.
