#NIGERIAELECTION2023: ORTOM LOSES SENATORIAL ELECTION TO EX-AIDE

Titus Zam, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, defeated Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom in the senate election.
Zam served as Ortom’s Special Advisor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters until he defected to the Peoples Democratic Party in 2018.
Zam, a staunch supporter of former governor of the state and Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs George Akume, received 143,151 votes to defeat Ortom, who received 106,882 votes, and Labour Party candidate Mike Gbillah, who received 51,950 votes.
The returning officer, Dr Rufus Shato, proclaimed APC candidate Titus Zam the winner of the Senate election at the senatorial district headquarters in North Bank, Makurdi.
Meanwhile, senator Abba Moro of the Peoples Democratic Party has won his re-election into the Senate.s
Moro polled 76,459 votes to defeat his closest rival of the APC, Daniel Onjeh who scored 59,959 while the LP candidate, Joe Ojobo scored 40,194
The electoral officer of Benue South senatorial district, Prof Robert Tee, declared Moro winner of the election.
