HOW MY DAD STEREO AMPLIFIER SAVED MY CAREER – DJ NATTY
By Adeniyi Onaara
Nigerian DJ Adebiyi Fuad, also known as DJ Natty, has shared how he converted his father’s vintage stereo amplifier into instructional tools because he lacked the funds to purchase the original one.
Natty admitted he had a difficult time getting started but noted that the equipment he used at parties in his early days as a DJ was his father’s amplifier and little speakers.
He regretted, however, that despite their contributions to the development of Nigeria’s entertainment industry, DJs are not given enough credit.
The National Open University of Nigeria final-year student claimed that personal development activities and YouTube videos were how he picked up many of the DJ abilities.
DJ Spinal, DJ Khalid, and Dj Maphorisa in South Africa are some of my role models, he claimed.I was motivated by seeing renowned DJs play at a concert with a 10,000–20,000 person capacity. I am quite inspired by the large turnout. I so promised myself that I would do the same DJ duties here someday, and now we are.
He continued by saying that he is dedicated to using music to improve people’s lives.
