JUST IN: SENATE CONFIRMS ALIYU AS ICPC CHAIRMAN
Musa Aliyu is now the official chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, as confirmed by the Senate.
At the plenary on Thursday, there was a screening process that led to his confirmation.
Around 11:50 a.m., the screening began when the leader, Bamidele Opeyemi, issued a point order suspending pertinent Senate rules to admit outsiders into the chamber.
Deputy President Jibirin Barau oversaw the whole screening of Aliyu, a lawyer and Attorney-General of Jigawa State.
In a letter to the Senate on Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu requested Aliyu’s confirmation as the agency’s chairman.
