MAN CITY’S HAALAND SETS NEW CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RECORD
Erling Haaland, on Tuesday set a new UEFA Champions League record after netting his 40th Champions League goal in Manchester City’s 3-2 win over RB Leipzig.
The Norway international needed just 35 matches to get to the landmark.
With his most recent goal, he made history as the youngest player to ever score 40 goals in the Champions League in just 35 games.
He surpassed former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy who had taken 45 games to get there.
Haaland also broke his contemporary Kylian Mbappe’s record.
Mbappe is third fastest, taking 59 matches while two of the finest goalscorers of the modern era Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski needed 61 games each.
