FOOTBALL: OSIMHEN’S AGENT TO MEET NAPOLI OVER CONTRACT EXTENSION
By Sefiu Ajape
According to TMW, an Italian website, Victor Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda is prepared for another meeting with Napoli.
His contract with the team expires in 18 months, but Aurelio De Laurentiis recently revealed that a new agreement was practically finalized.
Following his Monday night African Men’s Footballer of the Year award in Marrakech, Morocco, the 24-year-old Nigerian striker returned to action for his team and played 69 minutes in their pivotal Champions League match against Braga.
The Nigerian forward scored his seventh goal of the season in all competitions and his first of the competition in the 33rd minute.
Calenda, who is expected to meet De Laurentiis, was in the stands at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to witness Napoli’s victory over Braga, as reported by TMW.
The meeting could be the key step forward for the Nigerian striker’s contract renewal, which still hasn’t been finalised despite the Napoli president’s claims earlier this month that the parties were at ‘the signing stage’.
Being the most intriguing center forward on the transfer market right now, Osimhen is expected to draw attention when the January transfer window reopens should his contract renewal fall through before the end of the month.
