Idris Malagi, Minister of Information and National Orientation, dismissed allegations that the Federal Government manipulated the Rivers State political crisis.

In an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, Malagi clarified that the involvement of individuals associated with President Bola Tinubu in the crisis does not implicate the All Progressives Congress government.

“The occurrence of the crisis in Rivers does not automatically implicate the Federal Government as the orchestrator,” he asserted.

The minister emphasized the absence of concrete evidence linking the Federal Government to the crisis, saying, “I’ve not found evidence to suggest that the Federal Government is engineering the crisis.”

Malagi noted the ease with which speculation arises as a result of the presence of individuals associated with the central government, particularly cabinet members of President Bola Tinubu.

He drew attention to comparable political problems in states such as Ondo, citing occasions in which the President interfered to resolve crises within the same political party.

The minister emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing political challenges in various states, emphasizing that the priority is to maintain stability and facilitate resolution rather than incite discontent.
