The executive governor of Enugu state, H.E, Dr. Peter N. Mbah, has graciously approved that the gates into the main bowl of Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, be thrown open to supporters and fans of the ‘Flying Antelopes’, Rangers International F.C as the return to ‘The Cathedral’ to host old rivals, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in a match day 16, NPFL 2023/2024 fixture.

This much was revealed by the G.M/CEO of Rangers, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, at a special media interactive session held at the corporate office of the club, on Friday, December 22, 2023, stressing that the sports-loving governor gave the directive for the gates to be thrown open to the club’s numerous fans and supporters that have been starved football actions for nearly three years to enjoy the first competitive match at the facility.

“We had agreed at the management level to sell tickets for the match but our sports-loving governor of Enugu state, H.E, Dr. Peter Mbah, said he was going to pay for the tickets for our fans who will come out on December 28, 2023, to watch and cheer us to victory against 3SC of Ibadan. In other words, the gates would be thrown open at the behest of Dr. Peter Mbah just for the game of December 28. Our governor said that if our fans had patiently waited for our return for more than two years, Rangers should at the least, give them the opening match to watch for free,” said the target-driven Rangers boss.

Recall that the league organizer, NPFL, recently approved the return of Rangers to its original home ground for the remaining part of the season.
