NFF REFUTES NEW SUPER EAGLES JERSEY LAUNCH
By Sefiu Ajape
The Nigeria Football Federation has denied rumors that the Men’s National Team will be wearing a new uniform ahead of the 2023 African Cup of Nations, which will take place in Cote d’Ivoire in January 2024.
On Thursday, pictures of the classic jersey design went viral online, and several media outlets reported that the kit maker, Nike, had unveiled it.
On the contrary, the Glass House has denied the claims of the launch in a brief statement that was made public on Friday.
“Rumours about a new jersey launch between NIKE and the senior Men’s National team circulating on social media has been brought to our notice. We want to inform the general public that this claim is not true. At the moment, we have no jersey being launched for the Super Eagles for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to hold in Cote’D’Ivoire next month,” the statement read.
However, Nike unveiled the Super Eagles’ current uniform in September 2022 amid backlash from supporters.
