TRUCK DRIVER DIES IN MULTIPLE COLLISION ON LAGOS BRIDGE
Agency Report
On Monday, a truck driver on Lagos’ Ojuelegba Bridge lost his life after becoming caught in an accident with two other trucks.
But his assistant made a clean escape.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, made the declaration.
When a LASEMA Response Team was returning from a recovery operation in the Ijora area of Lagos around 1.37 in the morning, they came across many incidents involving three articulated trucks on the Ojuelegba Bridge.
“The accident involved two trucks laden with sand and a third one laden with chicken feed.
“The lead truck, laden with sand, reportedly suffered a mechanical error in motion, which resulted in a sudden halt of movement.
“The two other trucks, speeding from the rear, rammed into the first truck, trapping the deceased,’’ he stated.
Oke-Osanyintolu added that the corpse had been extricated and taken to a morgue.
“All affected vehicles have been recovered off the bridge to the LASTMA office at Iponri, Surulere.
“The Ojuelegba Bridge has been re-opened for safe and easy vehicular movement,’’ he stated.
