LASODA EMPHASISES NEED FOR DETAILED, UP-TO-DATE REGISTERS OF PWDs
In order to effectively gather data on people with disabilities, all cluster heads have been urged by Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, General Manager of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), to make sure their member information registers are current and comprehensive.
Oyetunde-lawal emphasised the value of maintaining records on PWDs when speaking to the group during a recent Zoom meeting, adding, “It is pertinent that we have the correct data on the number of PWDs in the state.”
To guarantee a smooth registration process for our people, the agency is trying to digitise the procedure.”
She continued by saying that the agency’s other main objective is to make sure that everyone is carried along by promoting a unity of purpose and direction where all parties collaborate to guarantee that the Lagos State government’s aim for PWDs is accomplished.
According to the general manager, LASODA will implement a just, fair, and equitable approach so that all participants in the cluster and individuals with disabilities in Lagos State can benefit from all intervention initiatives.
“The future of LASODA activities will focus on fairness and justice where everyone is carried along as we navigate towards ensuring the promotion and protection of PWDs in Lagos State. We look forward to collaborating and partnering with corporate organisations and other well-meaning non-governmental organisations towards achieving our objective”, she asserted.
The Zoom meeting had in attendance the Chairman of the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Nigeria (SCIAN), Mr. Matepo Abudlwahab; Chairman of the National Association of the Blind, Mr. Abolarinwa Salami; Chairman of the Persons with Physical Disabilities, Mr. Adeniyi Rotimi and Mr. Tolani Ojuri of the Albinism Association of Nigeria among others.
