PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE OBSTRUCTIONS: 27 MISCREANTS SENTENCED TO FIVE MONTHS IMPRISONMENT

Read Time:1 Minute, 5 Second

In line with recent efforts geared towards the removal of criminal elements obstructing Lagos residents in transit, resulting in Lagosians crossing highways instead of using pedestrian bridges for safety, the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) popularly known as KAI has successfully prosecuted 27 miscreants for offences bordering on breach of public peace and unlawful conversion of government property.

The Corps Marshal of the Agency, Major Olatunbosun Olaniyi Cole (Rtd) made this disclosure at the Agencyā€™s Command Headquarters, Bolade-Oshodi, saying ā€˜ā€˜The recent successful prosecution of these criminally-minded individuals is a testament to the resolve of KAI to ensure that there is total compliance with provisions of the law to ensure pedestriansā€™ safety across major highways in Lagos Stateā€™ā€™.

Cole revealed that the enforcement exercise was carried out in syndicated raids on the Oshodi, Ladipo, PWD, Bolade, and National pedestrian bridges.

He revealed that the convicts were earlier arraigned before Chief Magistrate S.A Adefioye at the Special Offences Mobile Court Oshodi, on a two-count charge, for which they were found guilty and sentenced to five months in prison.

The General Manager also declared that there would be no hiding place for miscreants fond of dispossessing pedestrians of their property, advising residents to make appropriate use of the bridges to ensure their safety at all times.
